Cotswolds Barn Conversion

Cotswolds Barn Conversion

Cotswolds Barn Conversion

Anne Kirmond has converted and renovated a collection of derelict barns and stables, including some contemporary features along the way

Anne Kirmond’s conversion of a series of ramshackle barns and stables is an outstanding achievement given the number of planning hurdles she and her architect had to overcome. Then there was the task of making sense of the jumble of buildings on the site, comprising an unsympathetic hotch-potch of additions and alterations with partially contorted buildings, as well as those which hadn’t been touched since their agricultural days.

The result is a home which brings the barns and stables together into one cohesive dwelling, embracing the original agricultural features and materials while introducing contemporary elements, namely the striking aluminium framed glazed link that now connects two previously separate elements.

With soaring ceilings, a warming family kitchen, a zen-like courtyard garden and a vast, ski lodge-style ‘party room’, complete with indoor pizza oven, this is a barn conversion with a difference.
